Over the years, I have found the greatest way to get into networking is to simply join a sporting team or club. When I started playing rugby in Brisbane I join UQ Sports and signed up for the Rugby Union preseason training camp. Throughout the season I played with 3 teams all of which contain 20 players and numerous coaching staff. Every team I was involved in would deliberately go out of their way to welcome any new players and make them feel welcome. Whether it be help with find sporting grounds to play our games on over the weekend or simply asking me out for a drink at the end of the week, I felt like I was a part of a huge family. During my time here, those in management would regularly ask how I was enjoying my time at the club and it I needed any assistance is finding work or jobs don’t hesitate to ask. This was a great feeling as at the time I was looking at moving away from home and needed both accommodation and employment nearby. Needless to say, I never took any of the job offers up as family life beckoned me to remain at home for the season, but in the meantime, I still remain in regular contact with those involved in the club and they are still more than happy to help out
